Waarmee ik niet bedoel trendy of de waan van de dag, maar fundamenteel noodzakelijk, kritiek zelfs voor de relevantie en het langetermijnsucces van elke onderneming of organisatie. Er bestaat geen alibi dat ons als mens vrijpleit van de negatieve milieu- of klimaatimpact die we zelf veroorzaken. Er bestaat maar \u00e9\u00e9n oplossing: anders leven en maatschappelijk verantwoord \u00e9n duurzaam ondernemen. Met respect voor de grenzen van onze planeet en ieders wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>Het grote woord is gevallen, wellbeing. Ook in de veranderende wereld van werk krijgt het welzijn van de mensen een prominente plaats. Sterker, het wordt hoe langer hoe meer erkend als een centrale driver die het verschil maakt tussen welslagen of mislukken. Aandacht voor wellbeing staat hoog op het eisenlijstje van kandidaat-werknemers om ergens te willen werken. Achter de frontlinie van de \u2018war for talent\u2019 heerst een \u2018war for wellbeing\u2019. Welzijn is een krachtig wapen geworden in de strijd voor een aantrekkelijke employer brand. Niet op zijn minst richting jonge generaties die kiezen voor werkgevers die echt bezig zijn met hoe hun medewerkers zich voelen. Ook bij BDO is welzijn meer dan een strategie van woorden en nu en dan een kleine geste. Het is een waarde die we als organisatie uitdragen en dag in dag uit toepassen. Het geeft zin aan ons werk. Het is een sociaal weefsel dat bepalend is voor de mentale gezondheid van de medewerker. Anders gezegd, de zingeving van werk steunt niet alleen op het loon of de jobinhoud, maar ook op de mate waarin medewerkers zich verbonden voelen met de collega\u2019s en zich begrepen, gewaardeerd en \u2018thuis\u2019 voelen in het groter geheel, de organisatie of het bedrijf. Wetenschappers vonden dat elke mens drie psychologische basisbehoeften heeft: autonomie, competentiebenutting en verbondenheid. Wanneer ze worden vervuld, zijn medewerkers van nature kwalitatief goed gemotiveerd, voelen ze zich prima in hun vel en presteren ze beter.<\/p>\n<p>De coronapandemie heeft de aandacht voor het mentale welbevinden nog versterkt. Dat staat vandaag trouwens meer dan ooit onder druk omdat almaar meer bedrijven evolueren naar een hybride arbeidsmodel. In die nieuwe manier van werken speelt de graad van autonomie een onmiskenbare rol. De Amerikaanse ondernemer en oprichter van Automattic, Matt Mullenweg, ontwikkelde een model met vijf niveaus van autonomie. Niveau 1 is een flauw afkooksel van het werken op kantoor. Niveau 5 is het nirwana. Bij BDO is het de bedoeling om te streven naar een persoonlijk evenwicht tussen verbondenheid (werken op kantoor), werk-priv\u00e9balans &amp; mobiliteit (telewerken) en de proximiteit met de klanten. Alles, zowel de cultuur van de organisatie, als de fysieke en technologische omgeving waarin de medewerker werkt, ondersteunt hem in alle facetten van zijn job. Mullenweg omschrijft \u2013 vrij vertaald &#8211; het ultieme doel als bereikt: \u201c<em>wanneer iedereen in het bedrijf tijd heeft voor welzijn en mentale gezondheid, wanneer mensen hun best doen en al hun creativiteit gebruiken om het beste uit hun loopbaan te halen, en gewoon plezier hebben.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Hoe onbereikbaar dat doel op het eerste gezicht wel lijkt, mijn ervaring leert dat het streven ernaar minstens even stimulerend en opbouwend werkt.
